Biography

Gianfranco Cosmano is an Italian olive oil producer and the founder of Deliba Olive Oil. Based in Molochio, Calabria — a region internationally referenced for its traditional Mediterranean lifestyle and longevity patterns — he has worked in olive oil production since 2006.

He oversees harvesting strategy, milling supervision, quality control, and final bottling within his family’s estate. Deliba Olive Oil is produced exclusively in Molochio and handled only within its territory.

In addition to leading agricultural operations in Italy, Gianfranco serves as CEO of Deliba Food Inc., the United States corporation responsible for importation and distribution. This dual role allows him to maintain a closed, cross-border supply chain with full traceability from farm to American consumer.

Trained as an urban planner, his background in territorial systems and long-term development informs his agricultural philosophy: sustainability, structural integrity, and measurable quality over industrial volume.

Together with his siblings, Carmine and Ivana, he founded Deliba to address what they consider a critical gap in the olive oil industry — transparency. Each harvest includes independently verified laboratory analysis, declared harvest dates, and documented batch traceability.

The Deliba Transparency Framework™

Gianfranco developed this proprietary protocol to solve the lack of honesty in the US olive oil market. It defines the 4 non-negotiable pillars of integrity: Lab verification, Harvest date disclosure, Single-origin purity, and a Closed supply chain.

The Cosmano Legacy

Deliba began with our father, Francesco Cosmano, in the 1960s. While Italy was racing toward industrial expansion, he chose to cultivate a different future, laying the foundation for our olive oil legacy with absolute respect for the soil.

Francesco Cosmano in the 1960s

In the late 1970s, my father and my mother, Maria, pioneered a revolutionary harvesting technique. They introduced suspended colored nets to ensure the olives never touched the ground. This foresight preserved the fruit’s integrity and paved the way for the high-polyphenol quality we are known for today.

Rooted in a Longevity Hotspot

Our olive groves grow in southern Calabria, near the village of Molochio—a place globally recognized for its remarkable longevity rates and centenarians. Rocky soils, sea breezes from the Tyrrhenian coast, and cool nights shape our native cultivars.

Here, extra virgin olive oil isn’t a trend; it’s a daily ritual of vitality. We harvest early and cold-press within hours to preserve the natural polyphenols that fuel this extraordinary lifespan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers shaped by our family story — from Italy, in southern Calabria, near the village of Molochio.

Where does Deliba olive oil come from?
Every bottle begins in Italy, in southern Calabria, near Molochio. These are the groves our father planted in the 1960s. We still harvest by hand, bottling our family’s story for your table.
What makes your oil part of a longevity lifestyle?
In Molochio people live long, healthy lives. A daily ritual of fresh EVOO is part of it. We harvest early and cold-press within hours to help preserve natural polyphenols associated with vitality — honoring a tradition proven by generations.
Do you blend oils from different producers?
Never. Deliba is single-origin. We cultivate, harvest, and press our own olives — no outside sourcing, no industrial blends. That’s why our EVOO tastes alive and traceable.
How do you guarantee freshness and quality?
Early hand-harvest; cold-pressed within hours; inert storage; dark bottles. Each season we share lab values (polyphenols & acidity) for transparency — quality you can read, not just feel.
What does your oil taste like?
Vibrant and green: notes of fresh grass, artichoke, almond, with a gentle peppery finish. That tickle in the throat? It’s the sign of potent antioxidants at work.
How should I use Deliba EVOO every day?
Drizzle on salads, warm bread, grilled vegetables; finish soups and fish — or a spoonful in the morning. In Calabria, EVOO isn’t just cooking fat; it’s a daily gesture of flavor and care.
When do you harvest and how often do you bottle?
We harvest in autumn, early for greener profiles. Bottling happens in small batches through the year so your oil arrives fresh — not stored for ages like many supermarket bottles.
Why choose Deliba over a supermarket EVOO?
With us, you know the family, the land, and the trees behind your oil. Supermarkets sell labels; we share our heritage — Italy, Calabria, Molochio — in every drop.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. We handle the entire process from our groves in Italy to our warehouse in New York, ensuring a 100% closed supply chain for our US customers.
What is your return policy?
If something isn’t right, we’ll make it right — refund or replacement according to policy. That’s how family treats family.
